Bath land trust offers workshops
BATH — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust will hold three workshops on topics from chainsaw training to habitat management.
A global positioning system tutorial will be held Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the KELT office, 92 Front St., and have an indoor orientation before heading to Thorne Head Preserve to apply GPS devices and skills. A limited number of GPS units will be available for loan during the workshop. The rain-or-shine event is free, but registration is required by April 8.
Chainsaw training for women will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11. This introductory class on chainsaw safety and homeowner maintenance is $55 per person and also covers lunch. The place is to be determined, and the rain date is May 19. Registration is required by May 7.
A botany and habitat management class will be offered from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Participants can learn how to identify the plants on their land, and a classroom introduction and basics will be followed by field identification and application at a place to be determined. This $30 rain-or-shine event includes identification and instructional materials that can be taken home. Registration is required by June 3.
