J. Louis Ouellette, 87
BRUNSWICK — J. Louis Ouellette, 87, of Brunswick, died March 8 at Hawthorne House in Freeport.
He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, to Vital and Anna Emond Ouellette.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and from 1950 to 1952.
On April 30, 1949, he married Cecile Lachance and they made their home in Brunswick.
Ouellette joined the Brunswick post office in 1956 and worked there for 28 years as a jack-of-all-trades, retiring in 1985.
Ouellette enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing golf. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a third-degree member of the Brunswick Knights of Columbus.
He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Louise Caron, who died Aug. 5, 2008; a sister, Lucille McDuff; and two brothers, Dorice and William Ouellette.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Cecile Ouellette, of Brunswick; children Rachel Levasseur of Brunswick, Lorraine Waite and her husband, David, of Topsham, and Michael Ouellette of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Ann Jack, of California; a brother, Maurice Ouellette, of Ohio; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick. Burial will be in the spring at St. John's Cemetery.
