Topsham seeks Route 196 input

TOPSHAM — The Route 196 Corridor Committee seeks public input on the future of that well-traveled road at a meeting Tuesday, March 13.

Originally scheduled for Feb. 27 but postponed due to weather, the meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Topsham Public Library.

Formed last May, the committee will make recommendations to the town for improvements along an approximately seven-mile stretch of Route 196, from Interstate 295 west to the Lisbon town line. Planning Director Rich Roedner said last December that the plan could be ready by spring.

Land uses are covered in the study, as well as infrastructure, visual impacts of current and anticipated growth, and transportation. The study will also make recommendations on adapting current rules and regulations in order to reach the town's goals, along with other ways to meet those goals.

The group continues to seek input from residents and business owners. More information on the project can be found at the Planning Department page at topshammaine.com. Contact Roedner with questions at 725-1724 or rroedner@topshammaine.com.
