Tar sands subject of South Portland Council workshop
SOUTH PORTLAND — The public is invited to a City Council workshop next week on the potential impact of importing Canadian "tar sands" oil into the city. The workshop is at 6 p.m., Monday, March 11, at the Community Center, 21 Nelson Road.
Representatives of city-based Portland Pipeline Company and the Natural Resources Council of Maine will speak about possible use of the Montreal-to-South Portland pipeline to import the oil from Alberta. Public comment will be limited to two minutes per speaker.
