HARPSWELL — Geraldine Joyce Purinton, 81, of Harpswell, died Monday at her home following a long illness.

She was born April 18, 1931, in Brunswick to Hollis and Helen Driscoll. She attended schools in Brunswick and graduated with the class of 1949 from Brunswick High School.

She ended her long working career as a packing clerk for L.L. Bean.

She was an avid gardener, seamstress and homemaker. On weekends, she could often be found supporting her husband’s country-music dance band, The Echoes, when it performed at places such as Lakehurst in Damariscotta.

Purinton was predeceased by her husband, Bruce G. Purinton Sr., who died in
1993. Survivors include her son, Bruce G. “Skip” Purinton Jr. of Harpswell; two daughters, Susan Ellen Dyer of Rhode Island and April Joy Purinton of Harpswell; four sisters, Catherine Toothaker of Harpswell, Patricia Hamilton of Bath, Sondra Rowan of Bath, and Edith Mangum of North Carolina; and three grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, immediately followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
