James Kise, 75

PORTLAND — James Kise, 75, died at his home in Freeport on Dec. 26.

He was born May 2, 1937, in Trenton, N.J., to Charles R. and Gladys Mae Kise.

Kise was a multiple-time graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and one of Philadelphia's greatest advocates. He was a principal in the architectural and planning firm of Kise, Straw, and Kalodner and was a trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for almost 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sallie Smith; his brother, Lee; his children, Jefferson, Curtis, Susanna and Triplett; and his grandchildren, Cassandra, Marguerite and Wesley.

Services will be held at the church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Chestnut Hill, Pa., sometime early in the new year.
