Portland schools closing 1 hour early because of Hurricane Sandy
PORTLAND — City public schools will end classes one hour early Monday because of the expected impact of Hurricane Sandy.
After-school and evening activities are also canceled, Peter Eglinton, the School Department's chief operations officer, said in a press release.
The decision was based on expected high winds and the need to get students and staff home safely on buses and ferries, Eglinton said.
