Rose I. Greco, 82: A woman of many skills
SCARBOROUGH — Rose I. Greco, 82, of Bay Street, died Oct. 8 at Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Greco was born in Pueblo, Colo., on Oct. 12, 1929, the daughter of Wallace C. and Florence Menor Burtis. She graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School and attended the University of Northern Colorado.
In 1953, she married Edward A. Greco, Jr. Soon afterward, they moved to Maine, where they made their home and raised their family. Greco worked by her husband’s side, managing the office and doing the books for his Portland medical practice. After working all day, she continued practicing her management skills at their home, raising seven children. Greco loved caring for her home and family, the most important part of her life.
She was a longtime congregant of Holy Cross Church in South Portland and St. Bartholomew in Cape Elizabeth.
Greco is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward Greco Jr., of Scarborough; daughter Carol Rose Flanigan, of Arizona; daughter Jude Greco, of Nevada; daughter Louisa Greco and her husband, Quimbert Tse, of Montreal; daughter Katherine and her husband, James Troiano, of South Portland; daughter Christine and her husband, Joseph Caresio, of Missouri; son Edward A. III and his wife, Anita Greco, of Columbia, S.C.; son Thomas J. Greco and his wife, Sally Williams, of Biddeford; a brother, Wallace, and his wife, Joni Burtis, of Pueblo, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Rose Flannigan, Phillip Greco, Ryan Greco, Stefani Greco, Nicholas Troiano, Sam Troiano, Joseph Caresio, John Caresio and Vivian Rose Greco; a great-grandchild, Jayden Rose Flannigan; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Oct. 11 at Holy Cross Church. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Homes & Cremation Services.
