Pettengill Farm Day in Freeport on Oct. 7
FREEPORT — Pettengill Farm Day returns Sunday with outdoor festivities and workshops.
New this year is the "Chautauqua,” which references an educational movement from the turn of the 20th century, and allows festival-goers to participate in one or more short presentations and workshops on topics including wood stacking, beekeeping, heirloom apple history and historic quilts.
The 37th annual event will also include food, geocaching and a poetry reading by Wes McNair, Maine's poet laureate.
The farm day runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, at Pettengill Farm on Pettengill Road in Freeport. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children and a maximum of $20 for a family. The event is hosted by the Freeport Historical Society.
The annual Barn and Quilts tour will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, and will start at Cotton Weeds Quilt Shop and end at John Libby's barn on Route 125. Tickets for the tour are $30 and include transportation.
