Social network aids police efforts

SCARBOROUGH — An active Facebook presence helped resolve two police investigations this week.

Police reported Samuel Pecor, 17, who was reported missing since last Friday evening, was found safe Wednesday. Police gave no details about where he was found or the circumstances about his disappearance, but thanked its Facebook page followers for tips and information that aided the investigation.

The department was also able to identify a man suspected of using a camera on his shoe to spy on women July 16 in Walmart on Gallery Boulevard.

Police said the man was interviewed by police this week and the matter has been turned over to the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office.
