Visitors drop their written thoughts into a “wish bonfire” at Maine Audubon’s Gilsland Farm in Falmouth on Sunday, Dec. 20, during a celebration of the winter solstice. The solstice, also known as the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year, arrived on Monday.
