BRUNSWICK — A new name and other changes will be coming to the Captain Daniel Stone Inn after a company led by a former Hilton Hotels executive in India completed a previously announced purchase of the property on Monday.
Abhijit “Beej” Das, president and chief executive officer of Massachusetts-based Boston East India Hotels, Tuesday said he plans $1 million in renovations and other changes at the downtown inn.
A name change could come by next year, Das said, although it would continue to be linked to the inn’s history.
The 24-room inn and restaurant at 10 Water St. had been for sale for nearly two years by a subsidiary of Saco & Biddeford Savings, which provided financing for former owners John and Kim Verreault.
