Brian Allenby, communications director for the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, rides from Portland to Falmouth across the new Martin’s Point Bridge with fellow cyclists on Monday, the opening day for the multi-use pathway. Construction worker Zac Chickering said about two dozen cyclists and pedestrians crossed on Monday after the contractor opened the multi-use pathway a day earlier than anticipated. The outer railing on the pathway is temporary, and work remains before the bridge is expected to open for vehicle traffic this summer.
