FREEPORT — Peter Joseph, now serving as town manager in Lincoln, N.H., is set to replace Dale Olmstead Jr. as town manager.

Town officials announced Monday that Joseph has accepted a preliminary offer. The Town Council is expected to vote on his contract at its Aug. 7 meeting. Contract terms and salary were not released in the announcement.

Joseph and Bethel Town Manager James G. Doar were the two finalists picked by councilors after a search process began in April.

Olmstead is expected to retire in October after 30 years as town manager. Joseph has been town manager in Lincoln since 2008. He is expected to start in Freeport on Sept. 17.
