Washington Avenue resident Ron Gan opened a new barbecue cart this week. Skinny Cart BBQ is located at 202 Washington Ave., in front of a dilapidated garage Gan painted bright green and yellow last fall. The offerings are simple – you can get a barbecuish, based on a beef barbecue sandwich recipe Gan’s Russian grandmother used to make, or a portobello mushroom sandwich. Both cost $5.95, and chips, water or soda are available.
Hours for Skinny Cart are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Gan said he might extend hours in the future if his daughter, who is in culinary school in Chicago, decides to stay in Maine for the summer. Email SkinnycartBBQ@gmail.com for more information.
