BATH — Construction of a natural gas pipeline running through the downtown business area has been completed, and should save new customers between 40 and 50 percent this winter on fuel bills, according to an Oct. 15 Maine Natural Gas press release.

Lisbon-based Enterprise Trenchless Technologies spent a little more than a month building the 1.1-mile pipeline.

Bath Iron Works and the Hyde School are already served, and City Hall, Beale Street BBQ, the Elks Lodge, the Hampton Inn and Brackett’s Market are among 30 downtown customers who have signed up with Maine Natural Gas to begin service this fall, according to the company.

Maine Natural Gas plans to add customers in the area next year. Residents and businesses who want to find out when they can access the service can visit mainenaturalgas.com or call 877-867-1642.
