PORTLAND — The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad will remain an East End waterfront fixture through 2017 after a lease extension was reached with the new owners of the former Portland Co. Complex at 80 Fore St.

Angie Helton, spokeswoman for CPB2, the new owners of the property, announced the lease extension Feb. 19. The Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum will relocate to Gray early in 2017, but the extension ensures its “Polar Express” rides will continue through the 2017 holiday season, Helton said.

The museum was founded in 1992 after the purchase of locomotives and rolling stock from the Edaville Railroad in Carver, Massachusetts.
