FREEPORT — The Winslow Memorial Park Commission is scheduled to meet Monday, Jan. 12, to consider changing its policy on dogs in the park.
According to current policy, dogs must be on-leash at all times from May 1 through Columbus Day. The rest of the year dogs must be under control and kept within 16 feet of their owners. Pets are not permitted on the beach, playground, volleyball court, playing field or the bathroom area, and must be picked up after immediately.
The commission will propose changing the policy to require dogs to be on-leash year-round. The discussion is limited to one hour.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the large conference room at the Freeport Community Center.
