FALMOUTH —Two green homes expected to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Home certification, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The Falmouth Green Ribbon Commission is inviting people to tour a completed home at 25 Brown St. and one under construction at 34 Hartford St. The homes feature solar water and radiant heating systems, air-tight construction, and architectural features and materials designed to save energy. Architect Phil Kaplan, of Kaplan Thompson Architects, and builder, Dan Kolbert, of Kolbert Building, will discuss the challenges, opportunities and benefits of creating a sustainable home.
