PORTLAND — The longest day of the year will be celebrated and observed with music around the city and a vigil at City Hall.

Make Music Portland will take place from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, according to spokesman Max Mogensen. The sixth annual event features free live music in concerts, jam sessions and sing-a-longs in places including Monument Square, Commercial Street’s Bell Buoy Park, Congress Square, and the First Parish Church Memorial Garden

Also observing the summer solstice will be Homeless Voices for Justice, which will hold a sit-out in front of Portland City Hall from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Preble Street spokesman Dan D’Ippolito said Monday.
