After a solid spring campaign, which featured playoff berths from every varsity squad, Mt. Ararat High School recently chose its top athletes of the season.

Baseball, which went 10-6 in the regular season, then lost to Bangor in the Eastern A quarterfinals, gave its Outstanding Senior award to Scott Rogers. Anthony Farrell was given the Coach’s award.

Junior varsity baseball chose Tom Ross to receive its Coach’s award. The freshman team gave its Coach’s award to Mike Schuman.

Softball was the lone team that didn’t post a winning record, but the Eagles still made it to the postseason with a 7-9 mark. After a preliminary round victory over Leavitt, Mt. Ararat was eliminated by Cony in the quarterfinals. Brooke Graffam received the Outstanding Senior award. Miranda Riendeau was given the Coach’s award.

The JV softball team gave its Coach’s award to Kirstin Demars.

Boys’ lacrosse posted an 8-4 regular season mark and was eliminated by Messalonskee in the Eastern A semifinals. Christian Lalonde was given the Senior award. The Coach’s award went to Nick Dempsey.

The JV boys’ lacrosse team gave its Coach’s award to Rolando Amador.

On the girls’ side, the Eagles went 9-3 in the regular season, upset Messlaonskee in the semifinals, then lost to eventual state champion Brunswick in the Eastern A Final. The Coach’s award for that sport went to Kristina Johnson. Meghan Dano was given the Outstanding Senior award.

The JV girls’ lacrosse team’s Coach’s award winner was Emma Wood.

There were plenty of highlights in track as well. The girls’ team came in fourth at the Class A state meet, while the boys were 27th. Jamie Clark (boys) and Brie Martin (girls) won Coach’s awards. Oustanding Senior commendations went to Will Greenwood (boys) and Krislyn Hyatt (girls).

The boys’ tennis team was 10-2 in the regular season and made it to the Eastern A semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Lewiston. The Coach’s award went to Josh Dennison. Three-time state singles champion Mike Hill was given the Outstanding Senior award.

The girls were 7-5 in the regular season and lost to Bangor in the Eastern A quarterfinals. Linda Fogg was given the Coach’s award. Tegan Talbot took home the Outstanding Senior award.

The Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators’ Association Scholar Athlete Award was given to Lisa Rogers and Jordan Swerid. The NIAAA/MIAAA Scholarship Essay Award went to Josh Bryant. Hill won the Outstanding Career Accomplishment Award and the Outstanding Contribution and Dedication to Mt. Ararat Athletics award was given to Carl Johnson.
