CAPE ELIAZBETH — Former School Board member and Democrat, Rebecca Millett, defeated Republican Mike Wallace by a wide-margin in the Senate District 7 seat race.
Millett easily beat Wallace with 12,606 to 6,751 for the seat that represents Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and a portion of Scarborough.
She is the third senator for the district in two years. State Sen. Cynthia Dill, D-Cape Elizabeth, won a special election in the district in May, vacated the seat mid-term to run for U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s open seat and subsequently lost to former governer Angus King.
