SOUTH PORTLAND — The City Council on Monday signed a contract with Peters Construction of Gorham for improvements to Mill Creek Park.

The project will cost the city about  $321,500 and will be entirely funded through Community Development Block Grant money.

The work will include improvements to the gazebo, including a retaining wall around the pond; reconstruction of Mill Stone Plaza; improvements to existing paths and construction of new ones; the creation of a formal public garden surrounded by masonry walls and pillars at the intersection of Broadway and Ocean Street, and improvements to the new Service Monument.

According to Peters Construction’s bid, the work should be complete by mid-July.
