BRUNSWICK — Mildred C. “Millie” Anderson, 75, died June 24 at the Highlands in Topsham.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Feb. 5, 1935, she was the daughter of Salvadore and Philomena Ragonese.

Shortly after graduating from Bassick High School in Connecticut, she moved to California.

On Dec. 26, 1960, she married Richard O. Anderson in San Francisco, Calif. They were married for 48 years until his death on Aug. 11, 2008.   

While he served in the U.S. Navy, they traveled extensively, and lived in Seal Beach and Monterey, Calif., Corpus Christi, Texas, Patuxent River, Md., and Hamilton, Bermuda.

In 1972 they moved to Brunswick, where they remained to raise their family of three children and eventually retire.

An active community volunteer, she donated much of her time over many years as a volunteer cook at the local soup kitchen, drove cancer patients to chemotherapy and radiation appointments, taught developmentally delayed children to bowl and visited children suffering from cancer.

An avid bowler for years, she played on a woman’s bowling league and achieved several 200 point games.
 
Her other enjoyments included music, dancing, traveling, skiing, entertaining, cooking, knitting, and reading.

She was also an active member of the St. Charles Borromeo Church.
 
She was predeceased by her husband Richard, and four sisters, Rachel Ragonese, Mary Ness, Frankie Webb and Phylis Ragonese.

Surviving are two sons, Eric C. Anderson of Brunswick, and Richard B. Anderson of Charleston, N.H., and a daughter, Amy K. Anderson of Portland; two grandchildren, Mary and Brian Anderson of New Hampshire.

Services were held at Stetson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, June 26 and internment was at Pine Grove Cemetery in Brunswick.
