YARMOUTH — Midge Brooks Vreeland, partner emeritus of Vreeland Marketing & Design in Yarmouth, died Feb. 17, in the company of loving family and friends at her home in Gray.

She was born Mary Margaret Brooks, in Shreveport, La., in 1950.

Vreeland graduated from Northwestern University, where she met her husband Stewart Vreeland on a blind date in 1971. They were together ever since.

In 1978, when the couple opened S.T. Vreeland Advertising in Brunswick, she was among a handful of women in Maine who ran their own agencies. She served as managing partner of the agency, now based in Yarmouth. She led a generous life of service and celebration, including as president of the Spannocchia Foundation in Italy, where she and her husband owned a 16th century home.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leon Eric Brooks Jr. and Patricia Joye Thompson.

She is survived by the love of her life, Stew; children, Zachary, Wiley and Grayson; siblings, Ginny Vreeland Gold, Kix and Barbara Brooks, Ben and Jennifer Brooks and Lisa Brooks;  cousins, SuSu Rosenthal and Kathy and Ken Drake; aunt, Mary Grace McCarty; father-in-law, Don Vreeland; beloved brothers and sisters- in-law, Roger and Donna Vreeland, Jack and Nancy Montgomery Vreeland, and Bill and Mary Vreeland Hawk; dear friends, Paul and Betty Turina, Kay Selber Zeidman, Janie Richardson and Ruthie Orth; Liz Bradford; Roberta Anzalone; and Alexia Schrott.

A celebration of life was held Feb. 22 at First Parish Congregational Church, Yarmouth. Contributions in her name, Mary Margaret Brooks Vreeland, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Topsham, ME 04086.
