Mid-Coast Masters swimmers Brunswick’s Dave Bright (left), Harpswell’s Katrine Alcaide (middle) and Brunswick’s David Vail (right), along with Phippsburg’s Bob Nelson, made the 2013 national top 10 rankings. Alcaide was ranked first among 30-to-34-year-old women in the 50 meter breaststroke. She was also fifth in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley. Vail was ranked second in the 200 backstroke for men 70-74. He was third in the 100 backstroke, fourth in the 50 fly, fifth in the 400 free and fifth in the 200 IM. Vail and Nelson, along with two others, had the nation’s second best time in the 400 medley relay and were third in the 400 free relay. Bright was third in both the 200 and 400 IM, fourth in the fly, sixth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 200 backstroke. Bright is the head coach of the Brunswick High swim team. Nelson was sixth in the 1,500 free for men 65-69.
