Former Bowdoin coach honored as Maine Sports Legend

The Maine Sports Legends will induct 10 individuals into its “Hall of Honors” Sunday in Waterville. Among that group is former Bowdoin College men’s basketball coach Ray Bicknell, who coached the Pola Bears for 23 years. Bicknell was named Maine College Coach of the Year four times. Former New England Patriots coming to Portland for flag football game

Former New England Patriots standouts Ronnie Lippett and Roland James will compete with the New England Patriots Alumni Flag Football team and take part in a game against the Cumberland County Sheriff’s P.A.L. and ECMG Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at Deering High’s Memorial Stadium. Proceeds from the game will benefit various youth athletic programs supported by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s P.A.L. A donation of $10 is suggested. FMI, alex@ecmgevents.com.

Bath YMCA Halloween Run taking registration

Registration is now open for the Bath Area Family YMCA’s Long Reach 5K Pumpkin Run, to be held Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $15. Day-of is $20. There will also be a kids’ 1-mile fun run, beginning at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $5. Proceeds benefit the YMCA. FMI, 443-4412 or bathymca.org.
