East wins Lobster Bowl

Brunswick running back Rashon Edgerton and linebacker James Cejka, Morse tight end J. Cavanagh and Mt. Ararat defensive end Franklin True helped the East rally for a 40-35 victory over the West in the 21st annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic Saturday in Biddeford. The East won for the fourth time in five seasons as Edgerton caught two TD passes and Cavanagh caught a two-point conversion pass. Brunswick’s Dan Cooper was part of the East’s coaching staff. Brunswick’s Victoria Burkhart and Brittany Rice were part of the East’s cheerleader team.

Coastal Humane Society hosting fundraiser

Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick will host the Coastal Humane Society Golf Classic “Fore Paws,” Monday, Aug. 23 at the Brunswick Golf Club. All proceeds raised will benefit the homeless animals at CHS. The tournament will be a scramble format with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost to play is $150 per player ($600 per 4-person team). Freeport Gridiron Club hosting road race

The Freeport Gridiron Club will host a Run With The Falcons 5K road race Sunday, Aug. 29, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Mast Landing School in Freeport.
