Bowdoin’s winter season ends

Bowdoin College’s women’s basketball and men’s hockey teams saw their playoff runs come to a disappointing end last weekend. The women lost, 61-58, in overtime, to Babson in the sectional semifinals in Amherst, Mass. The Polar Bears couldn’t hold a late lead and wound up 24-6 on the season. Katie Bergeron had a team-high 17 points. The men’s hockey squad lost, 7-5, to host Oswego in the NCAA quarterfinals. Harry Matheson and Brendan Reich both scored twice as Bowdoin wound up 19-8-1.

Soccer tryouts upcoming

The Clippers soccer club is holding spring tryouts for its U-11 travel team, March 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bath Recreation Center. Players should bring a ball, shin guards, a water bottle and indoor sneakers. FMI, 798-2885 or 841-2222.
