Student of the Month

TOPSHAM — Gabrielle Bryant, a junior from Topsham, was named Student of the Month for May at Mt. Ararat High School. 

She was nominated by math teacher Ms. Carmen Palmer who identified her as an excellent student both in and out of the classroom.

Downeast awards
scholarship to Perry

BRUNSWICK— Downeast Energy & Building Supply awarded a $500 scholarship to Morse High School graduate Nicholas Perry.

Perry is enrolled at Southern Maine Community College in the building construction program. 

Downeast awards seven scholarships yearly to students entering or already enrolled in community colleges for heating or building trades.

Brunswick Kiwanis Club
awards four scholarships

BRUNSWICK — The Kiwanis Club of Brunswick awarded four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors based on academic accomplishment, character and essay.

Recipients include Lisa Rogers of Mt. Ararat High School, who plans to attend University of Vermont; and Claire Beacher of Brunswick High School, who plans to attend Williams College.

Ray Labbe Memorial Scholarship recipients are Lindsey Paiement of Mt. Ararat High School, who plans to attend Becker College; and Benjamin Doughty of Morse High School, who plans to attend The Landing School.

Boyce earns AAUW
scholarship

BATH — Kelsey Boyce of Arrowsic, a senior at Morse High School, was awarded the 2009 Branch Scholarship Award by the Bath-Brunswick Branch of the American Association of University Women.

Boyce plans to attend Gerrysburg College this fall.

Sharp wins Rotary
Speaking Contest

HARPSWELL — Jenny Sharp of Harpswell, a sophomore at North Yarmouth Academy, won the inaugural Rotary District 7780 Speaking Contest on ethics held recently at Southern Maine Community College

The Rotary Club of Yarmouth sponsored Sharp for the contest, in which she received a $500 prize for earning first place.
