BENTON – Michael D. Leighton, 52, died May 3 at his home.
He was born in Pensacola, Fla. on June 12, 1959, to Carrol and Betty Leighton.
Leighton graduated from Bangor High School in 1977 and began working with the Waterville Police Department in 1978. He started his own company, Probe Investigations, in 1982 and later began Sentury Security.
On Sept. 10, 2010, he married Sandy Rancourt.
He was a member of the Waterville Elks and enjoyed watching sports such as NASCAR, football and the Red Sox. He also loved fishing and boating on the ocean and barbecue.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; parents Betty and Carrol Leighton; daughters Kymberlee Leighton and Tiffany Batts and her husband, Brian; stepson, Rob Willette; grandchildren Caleb and Lexi Batts; sister, Becky Moore and her husband, Ray; brother, Tom Leighton; and niece, Jen Leighton.
A celebration of his life will be held May 11 at 1 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A reception will follow at the Kennebec Tavern in Bath.
