HARPSWELL — Crews from the Maine Department of Transportation will be replacing an Orr’s Island culvert that partially collapsed last week.

The culvert, on Route 24 just south of the intersection with Bayview Road, was installed more than 75 years ago.

Replacement work is expected to take two or three weeks. Alternating one-way traffic on Route 24 will be maintained by temporary traffic signals during the work.

DOT is recommending drivers allow extra time and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
