PORTLAND — A city man was charged with two counts of drug trafficking Tuesday after a two-month investigation by agents of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Ian Nono, 21, of 88 Tamerlane, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly selling crack cocaine to an undercover agent near the corner of Canco Road and Washington Avenue, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a news release.
A search of Nono’s home turned up two handguns, with one confirmed stolen from Clearwater, Fla., and $3,000 “in suspected drug proceeds,” McCausland said. Suspected counterfeit currency and items consistent with drug trafficking were also seized.
Nono’s arrest culminated a two-month investigation by agents, who were tipped about his alleged drug activity. McCausland said agents made repeated drug buys from Nono, who would make deliveries driving a Mercedes SUV.
Nono was also indicted April 11 by a Cumberland County grand jury on two Class B counts of trafficking scheduled drugs.
Nono is being held at Cumberland County Jail; bail was set at $10,000. McCausland said he expects more charges to be filed against Nono and his associates in the alleged drug trafficking ring.
