The following graduates, in descending order beginning with the two top-ranking students, earned academic accolades at McCauley High School.

Emma Shumadine 

Valedictorian Emma Shumadine is the daughter of John and Catherine Shumadine, of Portland. Her activities included Drama Club, Nerd Circle and New England Film Academy. Shumadine received a Harvard Book Award, National French Exam Gold Medal, and she is a member of the National Honor Society. Shumadine plans to attend Wellesley College and major in math and computer science.

Jessica Willerson

Salutatorian Jessica Willerson is the daughter of Tom and Andrea Willerson, of Falmouth. Her activities at McCauley included varsity basketball, math team and Mock Trial. She received the Dartmouth Book Award, was a member of the Telegram Girls’ Basketball All-Star Team, earned a cum laude National Latin Award and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is attending Cornell University and will major in pre-law/business.

Zhoujia Li

Zhoujia “Zoe” Li is the daughter of Huihui Li and Zhou Yan, of China. While at McCauley she was a member of the International Club, Key Club and math team. Li received the Smith College Book Award, Excellence in Biology, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Wheaton College and study biomedical engineering.

 Zhouxin Li

Zhouxin “Trix” Li is the daughter of Huihui Li and Zhou Yan, of China. She was a member of the International Club, Key Club and math team at McCauley. She received the Phi Beta Kappa Association of Maine Award, Excellence in Algebra II, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to study biomedical engineering at Wheaton College.

Megan French

Megan French is the daughter of Peter and Anne French, of Standish. Her activities included Student Council, Drama Club and Ambassadors Club. French received the MPA Principal’s Award, Assumption College Book Award and One-Acts Drama Award. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. French is attending College of the Atlantic to major in human ecology.

Mai Mangin

Mai Mangin is the daughter of Patrick and Michelle Mangin, of Buxton. She participated in varsity field hockey, Nerd Circle and Drama Club. Mangin was a National Merit Scholar finalist, received a One-Acts Drama Award, was a member of the All-Conference Second Team – SMAA Field Hockey and a member of National Honor Society. Mangin plans to major in biology at The University of Alabama.

Kimanna Nguyen

Kimanna Nguyen is the daughter of Tan and Cuc Nguyen, of Portland. Her activities included varsity tennis, Key Club and Varsity Club. Nguyen received the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Science Award and is a member of the  National Honor Society. She is attending Simmons College to major in nursing.

Chelsea Rairdon

Chelsea Rairdon is the daughter of Gary and Laurie Rairdon, of Westbrook. She played varsity basketball, varsity soccer and varsity softball, and was a member of the Varsity Club, Key Club, Social Action Club and Student Council. Rairdon received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, Varsity Soccer Second Team: All-Conference and SMAA All-Academic Recognition for softball, Athlete of the Year and a member of the National Honor Society. Rairdon plans to study math/economics at Wheaton College.

Danielle Guibord

Danielle Guibord is the daughter of Dr. Ron and Dr. Maurissa Guibord, of Scarborough. She was class secretary, and a member of Drama Club and Mock Trial. Guibord was awarded a Northeastern University Dean’s scholarship, One Acts Drama Award, was a Presidential Scholarship Program candidate and a member of the National Honor Society. Her plans include majoring in political science and theater at Northeastern University.

Hyerin Kim

Hyerin Kim is the daughter of Junho Kim and Soonja Kwon, of South Korea. She was involved with International Club, Key Club and Yearbook. Kim received the Syracuse University Book Award and National Yearbook Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Kim will attend The University of California – San Diego, where she plans to major in economics.
