PORTLAND — Mary Patricia “Pat” Burns, 91, of Portland, died Feb 20, after a brief illness. She was born in Burlington, Vermont, on Oct. 30, 1924, the daughter of Joseph L. and Louise M. (LaFreniere) Burns.

Burns attended Cathedral High School and worked at Porteous, Mitchell and Braun for many years. She worked for the Maine Muscular Dystrophy Association prior to her retirement.

Burns was predeceased by her sisters, Lois Brown and Betty Gardner, and a brother, Joseph F. Burns.

She is survived by her three nieces and a nephew, Patrice Baker, of Suffern, New York, Marka O’Connell and Jennifer Gardner, both of Reading, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey Gardner, of Carlsbad, California; and a lifelong friend, Betty Haggerty, of Portland.

A private memorial service will be held in April in North Hero, Vermont, and interment will be at the Sanderson’s Corner Cemetery Fairfax, Vermont. Contributions in Burns’ memory may be made to the Mercy Hospital Foundation, PO Box 679 Portland, ME 04104.
