BATH — Mary J. Springer, 93, died May 25 at her home.

Springer was born May 3, 1922, in Lamoine. She married George E. Springer Sr. on Nov. 30, 1939, and worked hard to take care of her family and her home. For nearly 30 years, Mary also served alongside her husband, pastoring churches in Gardiner, South Blue Hill, North Sedgwick, Swans Island and Oceanville.

Springer also was active in the American Legion, the Girl Scouts and the local parent-teacher organization. In her later years, she enjoyed solving puzzles, watching the wildlife outside her window, dining on lobster, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was known for her warm hugs, her home-baked donut holes and her Maine “grit.”

Springer was predeceased by her husband after 68 years of marriage. She is survived by her children: George E. Springer Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Sedgwick; Richard D. Springer and his wife, Lynda, of Dayton, Ohio; and Lorena Thombs, of Bath. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ray Jr., Becky Joie, Rachel, Ruth, Amy, Mark , Sarah, John, Leroy and Jeremiah; and 11 great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Corliss Street Baptist Church, 402 Middle St., Bath, officiated by the Rev. Ray Thombs and the Rev. Ron Libby of Oceanville Baptist Church.

A reception will follow at the church annex, and a graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, in Windsor.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Corliss Street Baptist Church.
