BRUNSWICK — Martha Maureen McGuire died Dec. 29, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born July 1, 1946, and was a graduate of Traip Academy in Kittery. She met her future husband, John F. McGuire, when they were both in the drum corps at Traip. The couple was married May 1, 1965, and lived in Atlanta, Georgia, and Ft. Riley, Kansas while McGuire’s husband was in the Army. They settled in Woolwich.

She worked for 30 years as a property manager, both locally and in Portland, retiring in 2010.

McGuire loved to travel, and her favorite trip was to Ireland in 2003. She was also an avid hockey fan. She loved the Bruins, she hated the Bruins, she loved to hate the Bruins. Her biggest pleasure was spending time with her many friends and family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Julia Cribby, of Kittery, and her husband.

She is survived by a son, Kevin McGuire, of Portland; a daughter, Maureen McGuire, of Mount Desert Island and four grandchildren, Sean, Natalie, Keaton and Brooke.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

A time of remembrance was held Jan. 5 at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home in Bath. Burial will take place in the spring.
