NORTH YARMOUTH — Marjorie A. “Marge” Etter, 87, died at at home on Feb. 5.
She was born April 7, 1921, one of eight children, to Rena (Beal) and John Chipman of Milbridge.
She worked at L.L. Bean for many years. After her retirement, she met and married Fred Etter in 1985. Prior to Fred Etter’s death in 2005, the couple enjoyed traveling together, and Marjorie was happiest when she was with Fred.
A North Yarmouth resident for over 60 years, she was very involved in the community. She was a member of the Yarmouth, Pownal and Freeport Grange. She found her second family as a longtime member of North Pownal Methodist Church. She enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, gardening, and birding.
She had a generous nature and doted on her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Etter, and her granddaughter Billi Jo Walls.
She is survived by her daughters, Lillian Lounder and her husband Andrew of Hancock, Mary Walls and her husband John of Sanford, Rose Arsenault and her husband John of North Yarmouth; her sister Eva Tracy of Milbridge; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 14 at the North Pownal Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the church hall.
