TOPSHAM — Marilyn Lajoie, 83, died peacefully Sept. 30.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, Lajoie was the daughter of Irene and Lloyd Pierce of Bucksport. The family relocated to Sanford, where she graduated from high school. In 1953, she married Aldore Lajoie, who was active in the U.S. Air Force.

As a military family, she and her husband lived throughout the United States and Canada while raising their three children. Her husband retired from the Air Force in 1967, and they soon relocated to Freeport. After the death of her husband in 2003, Lajoie moved to Topsham.

She is survived by her three children, Lee Lajoie, of Lewiston, Lisa Hewitt and husband, Steve, of Readfield, and Lori Stupinski and husband, Scott, of Melrose, Massachusetts; and her two brothers, Ken Pierce and wife, Judy, of Windham, and Gene Pierce and wife, Laura, of China. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jonathon and wife, Margrett, Elisabeth, Kendra and Zachary; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Lajoie’s memory may be made to the Coastal Human Society, 190 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 8 at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, in Augusta.
