PORTLAND — Margaret C. MacDonald, 103, died April 15 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence Center.

On May 28, 1908, she was born in Norwood, Mass., a daughter of Patrick and Hannah Costello.

In 1925 she graduated from Cathedral High School.

She married John J. MacDonald in 1941 at St. Dominic’s Church.

Over the years she worked at A&P Tea Co.; as a bookkeeper for Simon Glaser Wholesale and John Aceto; and in retail for Kenneth Jack.

She was a member of the Cathedral Mother’s Club, Cheverus Mother’s Club and an avid Red Sox fan.

Her husband John predeceased her on May 17, 1973, as well as two brothers, Patrick and Myles “Coochie” Costello, and a sister, Annie Delaney.

Surviving are two sons, J. Kevin MacDonald of Gorham and Terence P. MacDonald and his wife Karen of Portland; four grandchildren, Kellie MacDonald of Washington, D.C., Scott MacDonald of Gorham, Daniel MacDonald of Gorham, and Ryan MacDonald of Portland; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Caiazzo of Portland; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 18, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.

Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the St Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland.
