PORTLAND — A 22-year-old Portland man was stabbed multiple times and found on Wharf Street early Friday morning, Police Lt. James Sweatt said that afternoon.

The man, discovered around 1:30 a.m. by police, was transported and admitted to Maine Medical Center, where his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Police believe the man was assaulted in the area between Wharf Street and the bar Mark’s Place, at 416 Fore St. The man was wearing a teal-colored shirt, tan shorts and dark-colored sneakers.

Anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance involving the victim was asked to contact police at 874-8533.
