HARPSWELL — A Massachusetts man died at Maine Medical Center in Portland after slipping off a ledge June 1 at 118 Brick Yard Cove Road.

According to a press release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, John Bernadi, 62, of Sherborn, struck his head on a rock and fell approximately 25 feet before landing in the water. 

The report said Bernadi was visiting friends, who witnessed the fall near their home just before 8 p.m. They provided emergency first aid and CPR, and were able to get Bernadi breathing again.

Cundy’s Harbor Rescue transported Bernadi to the hospital, where he later died. The sheriff’s office stated the incident is not suspicious and appears to be a “tragic accident.”
