PORTLAND — A city man faces criminal charges after his arrest in connection with several residential burglaries, according to police.

Richard Coleman, 29, was arrested on Saturday, June 27, and charged with two counts each of burglary and theft, in addition to charges of possession of Schedule W drugs and possession of burglar tools, according to a Police Department statement.

Coleman is allegedly responsible for a June 20 burglary on Brackett Street and a June 27 break-in on Deering Street, according to police.

Coleman, who allegedly got into both homes through unlocked or open windows, was found in possession of several stolen items and a small amount of cocaine when he was arrested on Cumberland Avenue.

The investigation into the string of residential burglaries continues, police said. Coleman was being held on $16,000 cash bail at the Cumberland County Jail on Monday.
