PORTLAND — A masked man carrying a rifle entered the RSVP store at 887 Forest Ave. on Friday evening, Nov. 29, stated his weapon was loaded, and then fled, police said Monday.

The man, described as about 40 years old, white, 6 feet tall and with a medium build, entered the store about 6:40 p.m., Lt. James Sweatt said. The man was wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants, hiking boots and a filter-type mask over much of his face.

Although Sweatt called the incident an attempted armed robbery, he said the man made no demands. The man fled through the rear of the store and onto nearby railroad tracks. Police tried to track him with a K9 unit, but were unsuccessful.

Sweatt asked that anyone with information about the incident contact police.
