SOUTH PORTLAND — A man accused of firing a shotgun along the Greenbelt and breaking into nearby vehicles on Nov. 18 remained in Cumberland County Jail as of Monday.

Terry J. Tucker Jr., 28, whose address was not listed, was arrested after police were called to the Greenbelt near Mildred Street, according to a press release from Lt. Thomas Simonds.

Simonds said police were called to the area after getting reports of gunshots and of burglaries of nearby vehicles. Officers found spent shotgun shell casings, then heard more gunfire before finding Tucker.

After first resisting commands to drop the weapon, police said Tucker did put down the shotgun. He did not cooperate further, and was arrested by officers using vehicles and tactical shields for protection, Simonds said.

Tucker faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief, assault, terrorizing, burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, theft by unauthorized taking, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, violating conditions of release, reckless conduct and making a threatening display with a weapon, according to jail intake logs.
