Amy Bouchard of Isamax Snacks provides direction, center, as her assistants guide the top layer of the world’s largest whoopie pie onto a mountain of creamy filling last Saturday at the Maine Mall in South Portland. Construction of the huge treat attracted hundreds of spectators and was the idea of Jon and Eva of the morning radio show on Coast 93.1.A few cracks developed as the pie settled. The more than 1,000-pound pie was eventually cut, with pieces sold to raise money to send whoopie pies to Maine troops overseas.
