AUGUSTA — The Maine Development Foundation is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special event Thursday, Oct. 25.
“A lot has changed in 40 years, but MDF’s commitment to driving economic growth in Maine to improve the quality of life for all Mainers remains constant,” the foundation said in a press release.
Tickets to the 40th anniversary are $75 for members, $95 for nonmembers and are available online at www.mdf.org.
The evening will also include a focus on the partnership between the development foundation and the Maine Community Foundation to honor the innovative ways employers across the state are supporting the education and career development of adult learners.
The Maine Development Foundation was created by the Legislature in 1978, under the aegis of Gov. Jim Longley. Its original mandate was to promote the Maine economy. Over the years the foundation has added leadership development, education and workforce development and revitalizing downtowns to its portfolio.
