SOUTH PORTLAND — Construction along Main Street from Cash Corner to just before Westbrook Street that began May 4 may cause traffic delays through the end of the month, according to City Manager Jim Gailey.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, Gailey outlined plans for surface grinding and paving in the area, in addition to sidewalk reconstruction.

Gailey also said construction will soon begin on a splitter island on Broadway between the Circle K Irving gas station and Calvary Cemetery to impede illegal left turns.
