BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Naval Air Station is one of four Maine military installations where the Navy will be increasing civilian jobs, according to a Tuesday press release from the office of Sen. Olympia Snowe.
There will be up to 90 new positions at Brunswick, the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Cutler, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the Prospect Harbor Naval Satellite Operations Station, although specific jobs will not be identified until next month, according to the release.
“In these extraordinary economic times, the new positions at Cutler, Prospect Harbor, Portsmouth and Brunswick are welcome news,” Snowe said. “We also commend those exceptional Mainers currently working at these bases who worked so hard to receive the Navy’s Most Efficient Organization designation, which has resulted in these new hirings. Clearly, the Navy recognized that when they need to get the job done efficiently, they have to look no further then the outstanding abilities of Mainers.”
