BATH — Maine Maritime Museum and the Boy Scouts of America’s Pine Tree Council are launching Sea Scouts, an initiative geared toward educating Mid-Coast youth about the coast on which they live.
The Sea Scouts come under the umbrella of the Boy Scouts’ Venturing Program, and the program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 21. Outdoor adventure and leadership training are elements of the program, the emphasis of which is on boats and the sea. Passage making, seamanship and other nautical activities are among the offerings.
The group’s organizational meeting will be held at the museum at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19. Call Jim Nelson at the museum, 443-1316 ext. 325, or e-mail nelson@maritimeme.org , for more information.
